WebFollowing a public meeting in 1919, the building was purchased on behalf of the people of Alcester for £620 from the Marquess of Hertford, to serve as a memorial to the men from Alcester who gave their lives in the First World War. A plaque to this effect can be seen on the wall facing the Hollybush pub, unveiled in 1938 (see photo). http://www.walking.41club.org/alcester.html
