I like to use a vacuum pump on the return line fitting on the IP. Or you can just keep turning it over to prime it, but that can take some time. If all you did was change the belt and fuel filter one of those two things is the problem.

WebApr 16, 2012 · Since I assume the timing belt is now on, once I got the crankshaft at TDC (harmonic balancer mark will do), I would loosen the tensioner completely, remove the top small idler, loosen, knock off and remove the camshaft sprocket, remove the camshaft bearing caps and lift up the camshaft... have a GOOD look at the tops of the lifters.
